Position: Building Inspector (1099 Contract Position)
Location: Monterrey, Mexico (Candidate may reside in Texas or Southern States)
Overview:
R2 Building LLC is seeking a highly qualified Building Inspector fluent in both Spanish and English to ensure the quality and code compliance of Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) construction projects at our factory in Monterrey, Mexico (R2 Building SA de CV). The ideal candidate will possess certifications in International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC). California Building Code (CBC) is a plus, along with extensive experience in inspecting various construction components including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural elements.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular (weekly) inspections of work in progress and finished products for ADU construction projects at the factory in Monterrey, Mexico.
2. Evaluate ADU construction projects for compliance with International Building Code (IBC), California Building Code (CBC), and other relevant codes and standards.
3. Inspect electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components of ADUs for quality, safety, and adherence to specifications.
4. Provide detailed reports outlining findings, including any deficiencies and recommended corrective actions.
5. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address any compliance issues and ensure timely resolution.
6. Maintain accurate records of inspections, reports, and relevant documentation.
7. Stay updated on changes in building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
8. Communicate effectively with stakeholders in both Spanish and English.
Requirements:
1. Certified Building Inspector with expertise in International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC). California Building Code (CBC) is a plus.
2. Fluent in both Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
3. Proven light frame residential experience or similar construction projects, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify code violations and quality issues.
5. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
6. Willingness to travel to the factory in Monterrey, Mexico, at least one day per week, with the flexibility to travel from Texas.
7. Residency in Laredo, Texas is ideal with the capability to travel to Monterrey, Mexico, at least weekly.
8. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
9. Comfortable working as a 1099 contractor with travel expenses, including mileage, covered at the standard rate.
