Business Development Director jobs in Waco, TX
Business Development Director directs the execution of the business development vision, strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Identifies and evaluates new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Director develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Oversees the development of proposals and contracts for new business opportunities and manages negotiations. Additionally, Business Development Director collaborates with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development plans. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Business Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. What We Are Looking For
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is looking for a Director of Business to direct business activities for SMART Hub, Baylor's Department of Defense Spectrum Innovation Center to support Baylor University in its mission and vision.
A Bachelor’s Degree along with five years of experience and an active Christian faith are required. A Master’s Degree and seven years of experience is preferred.
All applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Develop technology transfer opportunities and revenue streams for SMART Hub
- Engage with investors to find opportunities for investment and industry sponsored research
- Locate opportunities and work with the SMART Hub team to take advantage of them
- Pitch technology and business plans to potential investors and industry
- Assist the Center Director in establishing organizational management approaches and managing the center team
- Focus on team efficiency and project management
- Increase financial efficiency of the organization
- Build budget for projects
- Manage Center operations
- Assist in strategic planning and coordination
- Meet regularly with the SMART Hub leadership team and provides input in center direction, ambitions, and operations
- Engage governmental stakeholders and provides updates as to center progress
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
