Business Office Director - Healthcare directs the day to day activities of a hospital's business office. Responsible for admitting and registration, patient billing and collection, third-party payer relations, and preparation of insurance claims. Being a Business Office Director - Healthcare administers policies and procedures and ensures all office activities comply with hospital standards and government regulations. Ensures that patient financial matters are handled in an efficient manner. Additionally, Business Office Director - Healthcare requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Office Director - Healthcare manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • JOB SUMMARY: Greets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. Interviews patient or patient representative to obtain information required to complete appointment and registration process and inputs data in computer system. Answers incoming phone calls, takes messages, and routes messages or calls to appropriate staff. Works closely with providers and nursing staff serving as a liaison between patient and medical support staff. As part of your job function you will need to access Patient Health Information for treatment, hospital operations, and payment purposes. This is both a full  and part time opportunity. 
     
    EDUCATION: 
    GED or High School Diploma (Required)
    Associate Degree (Preferred)
     
    PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
    1. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Values.
    2. Adheres to Brodstone Standards of Behavior.
    3. Obtains necessary information from patient or patient representative for registration process and inputs data in the computer system.
    4. Schedules appointments, gives information to callers, and performs other administrative and clerical duties.
    5. Delivers messages, mail, medical records and other items.
    6. Obtains signed statement from patient to protect hospital’s interests.
    7. Directs or escorts incoming patients from admitting office or reception desk to designated area.
    8. Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents by falling or transports non-ambulatory patient with wheelchair and carries patient’s luggage.
    9. Scans cash receipts and EOB’s.
    10. Delivers messages, mail, medical records and other items.
    11. Make change, cashes checks, and issues receipts to patients.
    12. Keeps office supplies stocked, cleans work area and ordinary maintenance of office machines.
    13. Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned.
