    Position Summary

    The Business Office Manager oversees and participates in the general business operations, including daily operations. The position provides leadership to the center’s business office professionals, including scheduling, authorizations, credentialing/privileges and patient relationships. Reporting to the Administrator and CEO, the Business Office Manager is responsible for the business operations of the center including scheduling, insurance verification and authorization, medical records, fee collections, reception, human resources, and accounts receivable, and accounts payable. This is a working manager position that has a strong understanding of insurance payers, contracting, patient benefits, and calculating copays and deductibles.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists the Administrator and Governing Board in running the Center in an efficient, cost effective and customer serviced focused manner.
    • Responsible for maintaining a positive culture in the business office as well as a positive leadership example throughout the center.
    • The BOM will supervise all business office functions including scheduling, reception, authorizations. The BOM will be involved with, or supervise, billing, depending on experience.
    • Understands essential aspects of medical records and may perform auditing to insure patient records are complete.
    • Responsible for insuring business activities comply with AAAHC guidelines.
    • At least short term, the BOM will be responsible for accounts payable and vendor relationships. Quickbooks Online knowledge is advantageous.
    • Responsible for direct supervision of non-clinical personnel, including hiring, coaching, training, evaluating, and scheduling of staff.
    • Must possess strong leadership traits, excellent communication skills, and be an inspirational leader to the team.
    • Works with those acting in the capacity of human resources to facilitate the hiring process, payroll submission, and HR/personnel file maintenance.
    • Conducts annual performance appraisals of staff members in a timely manner.
    • Financial management responsibilities including but not limited to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and financial reporting.
    • Responsible for patient scheduling process including but not limited to pre authorizations, payment arrangements, insurance coordination.
    • Develop in-depth understanding of Surgery Center management information systems.
    • Knowledge and oversight of patient billing process and interface with third party billing company as applicable to ensure timely billing and collections efforts.
    • The BOM will assist the Administrator with medical staff credentialing functions.
    • Assists with compliance with all regulatory agencies and maintains a positive public relations image in all customer communications.
    • Participate in and support quality improvement efforts including but not limited to patient satisfaction and benchmarking.
    • The position may be asked to lead or perform other responsibilities as the center grows. Flexibility is a must.
    • Other duties as assigned and delgated

    Position requirements:

    · 3-5 years of medical experience and have a:

    · Strong working knowledge in revenue cycle management

    · Experience in performing and managing day to day operations of a surgery center business office.

    · Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures is required.

    · Previous accounts payable experience is preferable.

    · Must have excellent communication and computer skills.

    · Must lead by example and demonstrate an open and honest management style.
