Capacity Planning Supervisor leads a capacity planning team to plan and monitor an organization's operating limits and capacities. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to align with production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planning Supervisor identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to understand future plans and develop responsive capacity forecasting. Additionally, Capacity Planning Supervisor utilizes production metrics and manufacturing research to develop insights on processes or equipment and recommend improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Capacity Planning Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. The City of Overland Park has a full-time Team Supervisor - ES Inspections - Planning position available in the Planning & Development Services Department.
Summary:
Supervises inspection team members to include personal, administration, and training responsibilities for direct reports. Monitors staff and projects for compliance with adopted construction standards. Manages and coordinates inspection assignments for team members. Coordinates inspection team feedback for updates to proposed standards and specifications and represents the inspection team.
Performs construction inspections for developer-built public and private infrastructure projects, including but not limited to paving operations, sidewalks, storm sewers, street lighting, pavement markings, temporary and permanent traffic control, grading, erosion control, and associated work.
Coordinates with other Divisions and Departments as needed. Acts as an intermediary between the inspection team and office-based engineering and technical staff. Works with the Public Works Inspection team supervisor to ensure consistency between inspection groups on public infrastructure projects.
Assists in emergency operations, including snow removal, as required.

EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent with additional courses in construction or engineering technology or additional equivalent experience.
Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license.
Must maintain an insurable driving record.
Must have or obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) within 12 months of employment with the City.
Must have the following certifications within 12 months of employment with the City:
Minimum of Eight (8) hours in specialized training in erosion and sediment control.
American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Inspector Certificate or completion of Midwest Concrete Industry Board (MCIB) course in Basic Course in Concrete Technology.
International Municipal Signal (IMSA) Work Zone Traffic Control/Safety Certification (or equivalent certification).
KDOT LPA Certification or APWA Certified Public Infrastructure Inspectors as determined by Departmental Requirements.
International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Roadway Lighting I certification (or equivalent certification) if assigned to public street lighting projects.
EXPERIENCE:
Eight years of experience in construction inspection, surveying, material testing, or construction experience with projects including public improvements, or an equivalent level of experience. If assigned the responsibilities of street lighting inspector, must have a minimum of two years experience in street lighting inspection or construction.
