Cardiac Catheterization Technologist performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations and other related procedures. Inserts small catheters through a needle into the blood vessels and into the heart so that X-rays, angiograms and other recordings can be taken to determine the heart's structure and function. Being a Cardiac Catheterization Technologist assist physicians with patient monitoring during surgery or procedures. Documents evaluation results, progress reports, treatment plans and other data using appropriate formats and systems. Additionally, Cardiac Catheterization Technologist some positions may require additional certifications such as: Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES). Requires an associate degree. The Cardiovascular Radiologic Technician is under general supervision of the manager of cardiovascular lab,the Cardiovascular Radiologic Tech performs a variety of technical and patient oriented duties during cardiovascular procedures, including, but not limited to cardiac cauterization, pacemaker insertions, arthrograms, venograms, digital subtractions, vascular studies, nephrostograms, angioplasty and other related studies. Equipment utilized mayinclude, but is not limited to monitoring equipment, surgical instruments, cardiac output machine, pulse oximeter, ECG machine, intra-aortic balloon-pump, cine-film processor and viewer, etc. Performs invasive procedures, ECG's, monitors patients during procedures, prepares test results and data for review. Assists with pre and post procedure management of patients according to Lab guidelines. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the workgroup to exchange work related information. Contact with external contacts involves providing or receiving factual information. Requires normal courtesy and tactin dealing with others.
