    GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Director will provide leadership in all facets of testing, assessment, career, internships, staff development for Testing and Career Services. This includes creating a safe and supportive campus environment that promotes student success by providing resources, educational opportunities, and student-centered programming. The Director supervises the Career Readiness Counselors, Assessment Assistant, Student Employment/Job Locator, and an Administrative Assistant.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

    Leadership and Management

    • Oversee the coordination, planning, scheduling, and administration of the Testing Center including academic assessments, proprietary exams (TEAS, CLEP, etc.). Act as the High School Equivalency Chief Examiner to coordinate administration of HiSET exams.
    • Provide strategic vision, aligning departmental goals with institutional strategic plans.
    • Ensure student records and departmental practices are in compliance with local and federal policy and guidelines.
    • Engage with regional and national organizations for professional development.
    • Develop and enhance the office's execution of career advising and associated technologies.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Research and Planning in on-going assessment of the effectiveness of the department. Coordinate planning and evaluation activities and oversees reports, program reviews, and strategic planning, etc.
    • Formulate campus-wide career, testing, and internship protocols campus-wide as well as major exploration and career research workshops with faculty and career staff.

    Supervision

    • Supervise professional and administrative staff including Career Counselors, Assessment Assistant, and one Administrative Assistant.
    • Assist in the search process for new employees.
    • Clearly defines and evaluates performance expectations.
    • Communicate information to staff via multiple platforms; conduct staff meetings; and manage online testing calendar for new and enrolled students.
    • Maintain staff schedules, requests for time off, and weekly timesheet approval.
    • Promote a positive work environment which encourages free exchange of ideas and empowers staff development.
    • Conduct timely annual performance evaluations.

    Fiscal Management and Contract Services

    • Prepare and monitor annual budgets for all departmental programs and activities.
    • Support campus grant activities, goals, and reporting requirements.

    Other Duties

    • Participate in the planning and implementation of all matters pertaining to the division of Student Retention & Completion.
    • Serve on College Meeting committees and other committees as assigned.
    • Develop, manage, and implement other related projects, as necessary.

    Job Requirements:


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    :

    • Master's degree plus five years of progressively more responsible work experience in academic or career advising, student retention or student success programs, including staff development and evaluation in a college setting.
    • Experience using academic technologies such as EAB Navigate, Handshake, and Jenzabar.
    • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; adaptable and flexible.

    ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Community college experience.
    • Experience with the integration of technology and alternative delivery systems of instruction in the teaching-learning-advising process.

    COMPENSATION
    : Annual Salary Range: $80,000 to $85,000, dependent upon qualifications. Full-time, benefited, Non-Unit Professional position. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
