Founded in 1986, the Center has been providing rehabilitative and support services in our community for over 30 years. The Center offers 17 programs individualized to meet the needs of participants. These programs include medical therapies, counseling, vocational and employment services, two adult day programs, and three social enterprises. JOB TITLE: Career Evaluator
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full time, 40 hours/week REPORTS TO: Director of Career Development
JOB PURPOSE: Conduct vocational assessments utilizing standardized assessment tools as well as business/community-based sites to determine vocational plans and goals for people served. Synthesize assessment raw data and observations into a formal report for Vocational Rehabilitation with professional recommendations for the purpose of client career planning and service delivery. Understand and utilize knowledge of adaptive equipment and technology in the workplace by workers with disabilities. Facilitate and share assessment results with clients and stakeholders in formal staff meeting presentations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
15. Maintain on-going verbal and written communication throughout the assessment service with VR counselors, family members, SSD staff, public school work experience coordinators, other service provider representatives, and stakeholders.
16. Synthesize all raw vocational-related data, medical and historical records, site assessments, and observations from the client's time in assessment into a Vocational Assessment Report with a professional summary and recommendations for client career options to pursue.
17.Complete all required paperwork and documentation in a timely fashion.
18.Assist in the development of Individual Support Plans for consumers and assure implementation is in conjunction with appropriate staff and/ or employment personnel.
19. Assist in the assessment screening for training site clients as needed.
20.Cultivate an ongoing working knowledge on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and job accommodations to recommend and coordinate adaptive equipment, technology, and other accommodations needed for each consumer to be efficient and successful in their job.
21. Develop and maintain knowledge of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, job service resources, and job market information.
22.Refer consumers and families to appropriate community resources when applicable.
23. Provide community education regarding Autism, brain injuries, and other disabilities when appropriate.
24. Assure compliance and maintain standards as outlined by CARF and appropriate federal, state, and local regulations
25. Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
26. Familiarize self with and follow Facility and Department Policies and Procedures. 30. Follow all personnel policies.
27. Complete other tasks as specified by supervisor.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in working with individuals with disabilities highly preferred. Working knowledge of or previous experience in vocational assessing/evaluation preferred. Effective oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills required.
MISCELLANEOUS: Must have a reliable vehicle and auto insurance. Position requires prolonged standing and the ability to manually move, lift, and carry objects or materials up to 10 lbs. Employment Service training certification, CPR certification, and first aid training required (these trainings will be provided upon hire along with required agency trainings).
