Clinical Staff shall have sufficient qualifications, knowledge, and experience ot execute the duties of the position; shall be knowledgeable about theregulations applicable ot the program

Requirement:

All staff employed as alcohol and drug counselors shall, at a minimum be:

Licensed or certified as an alcohol and drug counselors by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists;

Approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists; or

Licensed, certified, or permitted under the Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland to provide substance abuse treatment.

Credentials. The administrator shall ensure that program staff, including students, interns, and volunteers, are credentialed and appropriately privileged.

• Policies and Procedures. Al clinical staff, including the administrator, clinical director, and clinical supervisor, shall review the program's policies and procedures and shall sign a statement saying that they reviewed and understood the policies and procedures.

Expected Duties:

Fulfills the programmatic requirements under COMAR 10.63.03.03;

Coordinate services and clinical care identified as a result of a comprehensive assessment.

Ensure the patient's changing needs are met with appropriate type and intensity of services. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.

Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans

Documents clinical caredelivered timely and comprehensively.

Substance use screening, assessment, recovery education, case management, psychosocial referral, discharge planning and follow-up are core components of service delivery.

Attend supervision, training and staff meetings as required.

Perform other duties within the scope of service as needed.

Summary
The Drug and Alcohol Counselor position requires a unique blend of core, premium, and relevant skills to effectively support individuals struggling with addiction. Core skills such as behavioral therapy, patient care, and addiction counseling are essential for providing quality care and support. Premium skills like psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy can enhance the level of care provided to clients. Additionally, relevant skills such as cognitive behavioral therapy and behavior management can further contribute to the success of the counseling process. The ideal candidate will be able to utilize these skills to create individualized treatment plans, conduct patient assessments, and provide ongoing support to clients in their journey towards recovery. The ability to engage in discharge planning is crucial to ensure a smooth transition for clients as they progress through their treatment program.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.73 - $30.00 per hour
