Position Description: Physical Education Teacher
Exempt
Reports to Principal
Organize, instruct and teach student in the fundamentals of individual and team sports.
Essential Functions:
- Teach sport techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics.
- Monitor the student athletes' school attendance, grades, and personal conduct, stressing the importance of each to the students.
- Notify administrators immediately when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or students appearing to be under the influence of any controlled substances.
- Purchase, inventory, store, and maintain supplies and equipment for the program.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Imagine Schools Six Measures of Excellence in the execution of duties.
- Model positive character virtues and habits. Assist students in developing positive moral and performance character attributes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Principal/School Leader.
- Plan and deliver educational instruction using the most efficient and effective methodology for the students assigned. · Conduct assessments that are research based and appropriate for the students assigned. · Provide corrective feedback to students, and re-teach as necessary, to ensure that the students have mastered the objectives. · Conduct research and read professional literature in the subject area of the assignment.
- Collaborate and clearly communicate with parents/guardians, and other educators to assist the students.
- Implement the approved-course curriculum. · Implement modifications in a student’s education plan as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Education.
- Experience: 1-2 years successful teaching experience in physical education and classroom teaching.
- Knowledge, Ability & Skills: Strong analytical, leadership, project management and organizational skills. Ability to lead the students with a positive attitude. Able to demonstrate the physical activity to which they are assigned.
