Being a Chief Association Executive may serve as the spokesperson for and represent the association. May preside over board of directors/trustees. Additionally, Chief Association Executive may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a board of directors. The Montana Petroleum Association (MPA) is seeking a qualified person to serve as executive director. MPA is a not for profit industry trade association that represents all aspects of the fast paced petroleum industry in Montana. MPA is active in Federal, State and local policy discussions that shape the industry.
The executive director is the face of a large and diverse industry in Montana and is the go to source for industry positions and facts. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the Montana State Legislature and the regulatory process from a variety of state and local agencies. The executive director is expected to have exceptional communication skills, and, either directly or in conjunction with others, develop a range of documents including the MPA newsletter, public internet outreach, technical papers, comments, media articles and opinion pieces. The executive director is expected to speak before large audiences, provide presentations in a variety of settings including formal hearings. The successful candidate should have demonstrable leadership skills and be able to drive consensus among diverse groups. Trade association management and industry experience is preferred.
MPA maintains an office in Helena. The executive director is expected to travel, at times extensively. Most travel is within Montana.
MPA pays a competitive salary and the compensation package includes health insurance, IRA contribution and a vehicle allowance.
