Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages daily planning, operations, and staff of a medical library to meet the information needs of users. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, and students. Job Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician is responsible for the collecting, testing and storing of blood. Maintains laboratory records. Uses, calibrates, maintain, and troubleshoots all laboratory equipment correctly. Documents all test results and other duties accurately. Organizes workload for efficient reporting within established turnaround times. The nature of this position requires incumbent to perform all essential functions of the Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA). Provides direct patient care to patients of all ages. Performs all job functions in accordance with Glen Rose Medical Center’s Policies and Procedures and Vision/Mission Statement. The Clinical Laboratory Technician reports directly to the Laboratory Director.
1. The minimum requirements of this position require the individual to:
· Maintain good general health and stress coping ability.
· Full mobility and able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
· Requires bending and lifting.
· Ability to speak and hear to allow discussions with patients and peers.
· Possess near vision acuity for accurate reading of equipment and recording information.
B. :
· Education and training equivalent to an associate degree or medical laboratory technology (60 hours) to include 24 hours of science courses and training in each specialty in which the individual performs testing; or
· Meet CLIA requirements for high complexity testing.
· Certification preferred.
· Must have completed some college courses, preferably biology and chemistry.
· Skills: Basic computer knowledge; proficiency in use of laboratory equipment.
· CPR Certified.
