Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages daily planning, operations, and staff of a medical library to meet the information needs of users. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, and students. Additionally, Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) possess broad and current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Position Summary
The librarian in this position oversees and provides a variety of services to the Walsh University community. These services include reference duties, research assistance, assessment, and collection development. The Online Services Librarian coordinates access to electronic and print resources and gathers data on library usage to inform renewal and service decisions. Additionally, the librarian in this role serves as lead implementer for updates to OhioLINK electronic resources.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision, and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education: Master’s in library science (MLS) or master’s in library and Information Science (MLIS) required from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent degree from a foreign institution at the time of appointment.
Demonstrated knowledge of principles and best practices in information literacy instruction. Demonstrated knowledge of information resources, collection development and best practices in reference/public service. Demonstrated knowledge of discovery layers and link resolvers.
Work Experience: At least two years’ academic library experience required
Experience with Sierra (Innovative Interfaces Inc.) ILS preferred
Skills and abilities:
Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff, and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
