Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages daily planning, operations, and staff of a medical library to meet the information needs of users. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, and students. Additionally, Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) possess broad and current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Job Summary: At the direction and control of the Lab Director, the Medical Laboratory Technician will perform routine and/or complex tests in various areas of the Lab using standard techniques and equipment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.
MLT with an Associate degree rom an MLT program and accredited or meets the criteria to sit for accredidation or an MT/MLS with a bachelor's degree from an accredited program that is accredited or meets the criteria to sit for accredidation.
