Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages daily planning, operations, and staff of a medical library to meet the information needs of users. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, and students. Additionally, Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) possess broad and current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     What you’ll do as the Chief Medical Officer:

    • Member of the executive leadership team with the opportunity to impact strategic vision and overall direction for clinical practices and patient care.
    • Collaborate with CEO and board of directors in development of services and program plans.
    • Oversees the hospice and palliative care provider teams, comprised of 7 hospice /palliative care board certified physicians, and over 20 advance practice providers, all employed by the agency.
    • Functions as the senior medical liaison within the medical community and community-at-large, building effective relationships with referring physicians and healthcare systems.
    • Provides clinical expertise at medical staff rounds or meetings with affiliated facilities.

    What we’re looking for:

    • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Hospice and Palliative Care Board Certification or eligible to be certified within 2 years.
    • Ten years of medical experience in an active clinical practice including 3 years of hospice or palliative care.
    • Three years progressive management and leadership experience in healthcare that includes managing medical providers and contributing to an organization’s strategies and goals preferred.
