Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages daily planning, operations, and staff of a medical library to meet the information needs of users. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, and students. Additionally, Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) possess broad and current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Laboratory team at CCHS is a cohesive, friendly, culturally diverse team of techs and phlebotomists. We have a good mix of MLT's and MLS's, with experience ranging from 1 year to 35 years. Our modern laboratory has an open floor plan and windows to a beautiful courtyard and view of the hills. We have state-of-the-art instrumentation for hematology, chemistry, immunochemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, and PCR for bacterial and viral identification. This department has no standby time; we are staffed 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.
Compensation:
Columbia County Health System is looking for a qualified MT, MLT, or MLS candidate to bring their experience and be ready to grow with our organization! Washington state also requires a Medical Assistant Phlebotomist (MA-P) license in addition to your MT, MLT, or MLS certification.
In this role, you will perform analysis in hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis. You will work in chemistry areas including; blood gases, basic chemistries, immunoassay, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
