Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Summary
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license in Minnesota to practice as a Registered Nurse; Registered Nurse license in the State of Wisconsin if assigned to Anesthesia Outreach; must complete and pass a qualifying examination/certification as CRNA within one (1) year of hire.
BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network.
ACLS and PALS certifications upon hire.
Nurse Anesthetists employed as of 10/01/2014 must obtain NRP certification by 10/01/2015. Nurse Anesthetists hired after 10/02/2014 must obtain NRP certification within one (1) year of hire.
