    Optima Dermatology has quickly grown to 19 locations and 52 providers in Indiana, Ohio, New Hampshire, and Maine. Optima offers a complete menu of services under one roof, including general dermatology, Mohs surgery, cosmetics & aesthetic services, pathology, and clinical trials. Unlike most dermatology practices, Optima’s strategy is based on a de novo approach, opening net new practices within markets that have limited access to dermatological services.

    Optima has launched an ambitious growth plan, focused on opening between 5-8 new de-novo practices per year over the next decade in Ohio, Indiana, New Hampshire and Maine due to the attractive supply / demand characteristics in these states.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The COO will manage and drive all aspects of operational excellence for Optima’s practices. Reporting directly to the President, the COO will be instrumental in scaling Optima’s platform to achieve the company’s goal of building the best dermatology group in the country.

    The ideal candidate has experience in managing operations, ideally in a multi-site healthcare setting, with core strengths in project management, KPI development and oversight, and executing on new operational initiatives. This individual is a natural leader who can inspire followership and has experience in client services. The COO will oversee Optima’s North Star Metric focused on building the platform of choice for dermatology providers, as measured by provider eNPS. The COO will also be expected to personally build and maintain strong relationships with the provider team.

    The COO will work closely with Optima’s Regional Manager team, who will report directly to the COO, as will the Director of Training and Compliance. The COO will also oversee Optima’s Clinical Trials business and Human Resources department, with Directors in both areas serving as direct reports to the COO.

    The opportunity is based in Portsmouth, NH with an expectation of ~20% travel to the practices across all 4 states.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create a lean, technology-enabled, operations team capable of managing >50 dermatology practices focused on delivering highly impactful operational initiatives in service of achieving target mature state clinical EBITDA margins.
    • Lead Optima’s North Star Metric, as measured by provider eNPS, by building best in class in operational capabilities in line with provider needs and establishing enduring relationships with the provider team.
    • Implement industry leading training program for all clinical roles at Optima. Ensure that Optima maintains its position as a leader in clinical care and patient experience, with patient NPS remaining at 95 .
    • Support launch of 5 de novo practices per year.
    • Advance Optima’s Physician Leadership Council with focus on driving greater consistency across the provider team.
    • Provide oversight of Human Resources department with focus on building highly scalable systems.
    • Support employee engagement efforts, particularly in the practices, with focus on achieving eNPS of 40 .\

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Experience driving cross-functional operational change based on customer feedback.
    • Ability to implement and manage according to key metrics.
    • Managed teams at scale and complex organizations.
    • Significant project management experience.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence thinking of sophisticated physician partners.
    • Customer-services orientation (although technically our employees, physicians are treated like customers).
    • Ability to hire “A” talent and retain employees. Maintains engagement and NPS.
    • Healthcare experience strongly preferred, ideally in a multi-site provider-based model.
