Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given major function or line of business. The Deputy Chief of Staff will directly support and partner with the Chief of Staff, and by extension, the Executive Director. The Deputy Chief of Staff will help manage projects in support of and across all divisions and departments of Mass Tech, particularly at the intersection of government, academia, and public and private tech sectors. The Deputy Chief of Staff will work across multiple levels of Mass Tech to drive key organization-wide and external-facing projects in coordination with the Executive Office of Economic Development.
• Assist with organization of programs and projects as assigned by the Chief of Staff, including partnering with all MassTech divisions and departments, seeking out information from a variety of internal and external sources, identifying potential issues, collecting applicable materials, and making appropriate contacts to secure information needed for action, decision, and/or support of the Executive Office of Economic Development.
• Prepare a variety of briefings, reports, information papers, memos, and other materials in support of the Executive Director, Mass Tech leadership team, and the Executive Office of Economic Development.
• Support the activities of the Mass Tech Board of Directors and its subcommittees, including preparation and coordination of meeting materials, and communication with members.
• While this role currently has no direct reports, the Deputy Chief of Staff will support the day-to-day operations and management across MassTech, including collaborating with the Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant to achieve the goals of MassTech and the Executive Director, including providing direction, assigning duties, and monitoring progress to ensure the quality of work product and timely completion of work when delegated.
• Attention to detail and execution are needed to support the high level of communication, preparation, and operations needed to amplify the impactful initiatives out of Mass Tech.
• Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines, and exercise independent judgment and discretion within broad guidelines as set forth by management.
Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience, including project and/or program management. Prior work experience at a government agency, nonprofit or other public-oriented business preferred.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES CANDIDATES TO BE ABLE TO WORK IN BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS AT LEAST TWO DAYS PER WEEK. THIS IS NOT A FULL-TIME REMOTE POSITION.
