Works with hospital departments to review design changes, equipment specifications/substitutions, purchasing and accounting procedures. Additionally, Clinical Facilities Planner develops and designs feasibility studies for review. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Clinical Facilities Planner contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     Reporting to the Reliability Manager, the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective completion of all maintenance projects in the mill during regular (both runtime and shut down) and annual maintenance days, through the planning of such projects. The Maintenance Planner has a role in improving work force productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials and equipment access in order to promote excellence as established in the Company vision, mission and values.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Maintenance Planner is responsible ensuring that the maintenance teams and contractors assigned have the necessary parts and labor available to complete preventative maintenance, down day and shut down tasks in the allotted time.  The Maintenance Planner will collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and Supervisors, Area Managers, Purchasing / Buyers, the store room clerk and Safety Manager to determine needs, verify lead times, identify gaps, verify schedules and finalize plans a minimum of 1 week in advance.  To that end, the Primary Responsibilities and Measurables (including but not limited to) are:

    • Ensures the Work Request and Work Order systems are kept up to date managed within company guidelines
    • Converts “approved” work requests into work orders
    • Ensures all work orders sent for approval include all costs including labor hours, parts, required rentals, etc.
    • Assists as required with daily work request review
    • Arranges “pre-scheduled” contractors and assures that contractors meet requirements for qualifications such as confined space, etc.

    • “Walks down” critical jobs
    • Develop standard job packages for routine / repeatable jobs.
    • Maintain Equipment Life Plan
    • Updates PMs in the CMMS
    • Manages the PM schedule
    • Gathers Input and facilitates shutdown and weekly work schedules to lock down stage
    • Facilitates backlog reviews
    • Verifies parts are in the system prior to shutdowns
    • Ensures work orders are properly closed
    • Identifies critical needs issues and coordinates with Purchasing and Stores to fulfil demand
    • Contributes to the safety of all employees and more specifically the maintenance team members and contractors working on a maintenance project.
    • Achieve the goal of no lost time accidents.
    • Work with the maintenance teams and the Safety & Environmental Manager to ensure that all safety hazards or concerns are dealt with in a timely fashion.
    • Ensure all contractors have WCB and liability insurance coverage before they begin and work.
    • Ensure all contractors and their employees have the required certificates for the work they are performing.
    • Ensure all contractors (that they arrange) and their employees have taken the contractor orientation and know and follow all company safety regulations while on site.

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications required to successfully perform this role.  These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.   A reasonable accommodation may be allowed for some aspects of the role as determined by Human Resources.

    Knowledge:

    Certified Journeyman or Master in the millwright or electrical trade

     Preventative maintenance program training experience.

     At least 5 years of experience in the trade in an industrial plant, preferably in a planning role at an OSB plant.

     Excellent computer skills including MS Office software.

     All Planner/Schedulers must attain the Carver Planner/Scheduler Certification (or equivalent if approved by the Maintenance Manager

    Working conditions

    Role requires a person to work in working conditions such as heat, cold, snow, rain, ice, frost, humidity, severe storms and so forth.  Special working conditions may include regular evening and weekend work, shift work, working outdoors, working as a team regardless of challenge, and so forth.  Exposure to noise, dirt, grease, water and sawdust is common.  

    Physical requirements

    Physical ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes climbing stairs, navigating catwalks, working at heights up to 30 feet above the ground, lifting up to 50 pounds (from floor to shoulder height), stooping, and bending, carrying up to 50 pounds at least 100 feet.
