The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Med - Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II.

Housed within the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, this position will support the research efforts of the Basu Laboratory under the direction of Drs. Ananda and Rita Basu.

General Responsibilities

• To serve as a liaison with medical staff, University Departments, ancillary departments and/or satellite facilities.
• To organize patient enrollment planning.
• To conduct quality assurance activities.
• To compile and analyze data.
• To develop and implement procedures, maintain records, track progress, and conduct quality assurance on data collected.
• To serve as a mentor to junior staff, including student assistants.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Conducts protocols pertaining to human research under the direction of PIs.
2. Submission for IRB, radiation safety, CCTS approvals as needed.
3. Submission for FDA -IND/IDE, other regulatory work as per PI.
4. Conducts human studies with appropriate use of SOPs, and program manuals follows through using proper GCP and Human subjects protection guidelines, and documents work appropriately in electronic folders.
5. Reports any problems in human research promptly to study team leads.
6. Adheres to institutional policies, attention to research safety and integrity, Safety of participants comes first.
7. Works under the supervision of MDs and other post-doctoral fellows.
8. Recruits, retains, and enrolls human subjects keeping NIH and lab timelines.
9. Prepares annual enrollment reports for NIH, FDA, and others.
10. Phlebotomy skills are a plus as is certification by SOCCRA.
11. Works as a team member to support others and facilitate clinical research funded by federal and non-federal grants.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
