        • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, related field and/or equivalent education required. Masters preferred;
        • Eight or more years of communications/marketing/ experience, with no less than three years supervisory/manager experience;
        • Proven experience working with and advising Senior Leaders on Communications and Marketing opportunities and issues;
        • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve objectives.

        Position Objective
        • The APD Director of Communications is a shared position with the VNA/VNH that reports to the APD President and CEO, with a secondary reporting relationship to the Dartmouth Health (DH) System Chief Communications and Marketing Officer.  In collaboration with Dartmouth Health Communications and Marketing teams, key responsibilities for this role include:

          • Providing strategic direction and input for communications and marketing to ensure that all marketing and communications initiatives, both local and system led, support the success of APD and the VNA/VNH’s (collectively, “the Corporations”) business objectives;
          • Ensuring that the Corporations’ services are marketed effectively, using a variety of channels;
          • Developing, implementing and sustaining effective internal and external communication plans;
          • Acting as the Corporations’ primary liaison with Dartmouth Health Media Relations.

          Marketing

          1. Collaborate with Dartmouth Health Sr. Director, Marketing to ensure strategic vision for the Corporations’ marketing efforts that aligns with Dartmouth Health’s vision as well as Corporations’ mission, vision, values, strategy and operational priorities;
          2. Collaborate with Dartmouth Health Sr. Director, Marketing to build an annual comprehensive marketing plan that advances the vision described above while projecting a clear and consistent brand using a variety of channels;
          3. Prepare and manage department operating and Capital budget; maintain budget discipline throughout the year;
          4. In collaboration with Dartmouth Health Sr. Director, Marketing ensure that all marketing initiatives and campaigns are created and delivered on time and across multiple media channels;
          5. In collaboration with Dartmouth Health Senior Leadership measure the effectiveness of all marketing initiatives and campaigns and use feedback to improve marketing effectiveness;
          6. Ensure that content on the Corporations’ websites is current and relevant to the community served; work to improve both natural and paid search and work in collaboration with Dartmouth Health Digital Services to ensure that updates are made to the website;
          7. Ensure that the Corporations maintain and grow a robust presence on Social Media platforms, including (but not limited to): Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram;
          8. Maintain and improve (as needed) VNH’s external signage and APD’s internal and external signage to enhance wayfinding, while projecting and promoting the Corporations’ mission, vision, values and brand;

          Communications

          1. Create and implement cohesive and effective internal communications plans that inform the Corporation’s workforce, including those who are not employed by either corporation, of organizational goals, priorities, activities and important updates in a timely manner using a variety of methods that are accessible to all;
          2. Plan, develop and execute effective external communication strategies, using a variety of methods and channels, to support the Corporations’ mission, vision, values, strategy and priorities;
          3. Support presentations that are given by Corporations’ personnel at planned external events with talking points and pre-event coaching and preparation;
          4. Collaborate with APD Lifecare leadership to ensure that Lifecare staff and residents of Harvest Hill and the Woodlands are aware of events and activities on the APD campus that are of interest (eg; road closure, new signage, construction, etc);
          5. Collaborate with the DH Executive Director, Member Advancement and APD Director of Development to support the Corporations’ and Lifecare’s communication with donors and fundraising efforts;
          6. Support the Corporations’ Presidents and CEOs to prepare for #ALL APD and VNH Town Hall meetings; solicit and manage pre-meeting questions, disseminate recording of meeting and assist with post-meeting follow-up;
          7. As the leader of Communications and Marketing for the Corporations, establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with Dartmouth Health Communications and Marketing department to ensure alignment of marketing and communication efforts;
          8. Receive, review, adapt (as needed) and disseminate Dartmouth Health system-wide communications to appropriate the Corporations’ audiences using a variety of assets that are tailored to meet the needs of all employees;
          9. Participate in Dartmouth Health Marketing and Communications team meetings and events as requested; share the Corporations’ perspective and input into strategic and operations planning;
          10. Work closely with Dartmouth Health colleagues on media relations to ensure consistent messaging across the system; respond to all media requests in consultation with Dartmouth Health Senior Manager, Media Relations and APD MH or VNH President and CEO.

          Additional Duties

          1. In accordance with the Corporations’ policy, collaborate with Community Health program to make recommendations to Senior Leadership regarding sponsorship requests and opportunities that are brought to the organizations by community members and organizations;
