    Position Title:   Community Engagement Specialist       

    Full-Time Status: Exempt

    Department:   Program 

    Location:  Omaha, NE

    Reports To: Recruitment Coordinator

    POSITION PURPOSE

    This position is responsible for community engagement efforts for the agency through strategic recruitment campaigns and outreach, corporate and community-focused partnership development, and implementation of marketing and social media strategies to initiate the enrollment process with a high level of customer service.  

    PERFORMANCE MEASURES

    A successful Community Engagement Specialist will produce positive outcomes in the following areas:  volunteer yield, youth yield, and customer satisfaction leading to high match retention.                                                                      

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure that all potential volunteers and families receive an engaging, positive, and personalized response promoting our BBBS programs.   
      1. Present engagement options to potential participants.
      2. Determine the best way to get investment in the enrollment process.
      3. Identify and eliminate any barriers interfering with the initial enrollment process.  
      4. Effectively move participants from the point of first contact through the enrollment process while documenting all steps taken in the Agency’s information management system. 
    • Work with recruitment & marketing teams to ensure the information presented through handouts and presentations is accurate and engaging.  
    • Conduct on-site, off-site, and virtual, individual, and group information sessions as needed.
    • Respond thoroughly to all inquiries regarding general information or enrollment process status with flexibility and promptness.  
    • Continually and accurately track and maintain recurring contact with potential volunteers and families who have not yet begun the enrollment process in our information management system.
    • Assist the Recruitment and Marketing teams based on specific agency goals and needs through scheduling, planning, facilitation, and follow-up of presentations, meetings, participation at fairs/events, and other opportunities to build awareness.
    • Maintain and respond to inquiries via external sites (ex. Mentor.org, Volunteer Match, etc.)
    • Enter all participants’ contact information and pertinent data into our information management system; ensuring accuracy and timeliness. 
    • Monitor criminal and child abuse background check requests for potential volunteers. Document when background checks are received in our information management system and download reports to our internal secured drive.
    • Monitor and solve challenges that prevent smooth transition through our enrollment processes.  Communicate concerns surfacing during their initial enrollment, when needed, to the Director of Enrollment.
    • Assist participants in scheduling interviews as the need arises between volunteers, families, and Enrollment Coordinators.
    • Refer participants to other appropriate social programs or services as seen fit.
    • Support, and collaborate with, other departments, including program, development, and Mission Support, along with the agency’s JEDI efforts, to accomplish organizational goals.   
    • Other duties assigned within the Program Department.

    EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

    Education Level/ Years of Related Work Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Education or experience in sales, fundraising, communication, marketing, or community development preferred. 
    • Must have strong presentation skills. 
    • Bilingual desired

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Proficiency in technical areas such as Microsoft Office; including Word, Outlook, and Excel.                           
    • Excellent oral communication skills reflecting solid customer service both in-person, via the telephone, and through email and text.

    • Knowledge of BBBS organization purpose and customer intake process.

    • Engaging all customers in a welcoming manner with every contact.            
    • Ability to efficiently communicate and work with other BBBS staff to complete organization goals.             
    • Ability to respond and attend to customer and organization requests quickly and completely.                    

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS (% OF TOTAL WORK TIME) 20%

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Minimal physical requirements, operating computer/telephone. Hybrid work environment. Must have secure internet connection to support remote work. Some evenings and weekends are required to attend events. Must have reliable transportation for travel to meetings/events in the service area.
