Community Support Specialist
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a mental health or related field and at least a DMH Community Support Specialist Credential. Community Support Services can also be provided by DMH Credentialed Therapists (MH, IDD and Addictions as appropriate to the population being served) and individuals with an appropriate professional license.
Key functions:
Supervision and Training Provided To Employee
The local office will provide initial training, while on-going training and supervision is provided on-going by the supervisor. A supervision plan will be developed for the employee specifying training and other development activities required in the position. The employee must meet the requirements of the supervision plan.
Physical Effort
A variety of physical activities are necessary for this position depending upon the needs of the consumers of the agency. Travel within the community is required. From time to time out-of-town travel may be required. There will also be interaction with consumers served at each local office.
Work Environment and Conditions
The staff works in a climate controlled office and in the persons home. This may involve the staff being in unsafe neighborhoods.
