Concern Housing is seeking a Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator to join our team and work in the Opioid Prevention Program! The Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator will be a dedicated and influential individual, responsible for guiding and mentoring, as well as coordinating activities, workshops, trainings and groups for individuals and youth. This role focuses on promoting personal development, leadership skills, and positive behavior, while creating a safe and engaging environment.
Position: Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator
Location: Port Jefferson, NY
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 11am - 7pm
Salary: $50.000/yr.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development of workshops, activities, and trainings geared toward enhancing participants’ self-esteem,
confidence, and skill set.
- Facilitate/co-facilitate workshops and activities on topics geared towards enhancing individuals’ personal well-being,
including healthy relationships, financial literacy, substance use prevention, job readiness, stress management, etc.
- Collaborate with agency staff to assess residents’ interests, needs, etc.
- Provide transportation to external forums, trainings and workshops.
- Provide weekly supervision to the Assistant Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator.
- Perform regular data collection to track and assess service provision and program membership.
- Report Units of Service to Suffolk County, as required.
- Attend weekly supervision and staff meetings.
- Remain current with all agency required compliance documents and trainings.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Director.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, social work, youth development) preferred. Previous experience working with adults and youth in a leadership or mentoring capacity. Experience working with individuals/groups who have substance use histories. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of youth development principles and understanding of issues affecting youth. Empathy, patience, and the ability to connect with and engage diverse groups of people.
