Community Health Director is responsible for developing plans for community-based health programs aimed at the prevention of disease and promotion of health. Recommends community health initiatives, policy implications and best practices after reviewing health literature and statistics. Being a Community Health Director identifies community health program related grant funding and develops grant proposals. Manages specific community health programs from planning and design through implementation and evaluation. Additionally, Community Health Director requires a master's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a top management. The Community Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Community Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     We are looking for a mission driven Development & Communications Director to join our team! The Director of Development and Communication plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of our non-profit organization. This leadership position involves strategically driving fundraising efforts and overseeing communication strategies to enhance the organization's visibility and impact.

    The Director works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, to generate revenue to support mission and services. The position is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing all aspects of the organization's fundraising, communications, and marketing program to achieve the organization's annual, capital and long-term financial and relationship goals; including individual gifts, foundation support, special events, capital campaigns, and internal and external communications.

    The Director leads, manages and mentors a small department of talents development staff in identifying and cultivating donors and funding sources to achieve budget needs. The Director also works directly with the finance staff on budgeting and reporting and with the Human Resources Director in recruitment of staff.

    This is a full-time position located at our Satellite Location located in The Immigrant Legal Center (42nd and Center). The schedule will be 40 hours per week; generally, Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Business, English, Journalism or related field required; advanced degree preferred. Spanish proficiency is a plus.
    2. Five or more years of experience in fund development and grants required. Professional recent history that includes communications and management of three or more years preferred.
    3. A convincing track-record of developing and implementing an effective, comprehensive annual fund program with a record of progressive philanthropic support preferred.
    4. Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office products (word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and donor software required.
    5. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal skills, required.
    6. Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with the CEO, as many responsibilities are shared. Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain trusted relationships with key stakeholders and donors.
    7. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to effectively lead a team of development professionals. Demonstrated comfort and felicity to change within a fast-paced work environment.
    8. Ability and willingness to travel to various locations for prospect visits and fundraising/community events in order to preform job functions. Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends tin order to meet organizational needs.
