Typically reports to a top management. The Community Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Community Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position Summary:

    The Community Relations Coordinator works to build positive relationships with local residents, organizations, etc., in order to foster a sense of goodwill and collaboration. This position oversees multiple events and projects and ensures the preparation of events, including publicity and awareness in the communities Northland Health Centers (NHC) serves. The Community Relations Coordinator will plan, coordinate, promote, execute, and attend various health screenings, community wellness programs, and health education programs throughout our service area, and will also represent NHC at health fairs and other community events. This position is best suited for a social person with strong organizational and communication skills, as well as public speaking skills, desiring to improve the communities NHC serves.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain relationships with key community partners.

    • Serve as a liaison between NHC and communities, providing information about programs, services and events.

    • Assist with developing and distributing outreach materials, directly contacting target community members, networking with appropriate community organizations, and utilizing broadcasted and printed media.

    • Make public appearances and give presentations to promote NHC and its activities.

    • Plan and execute community outreach events, such as health fairs, career fairs and other community events.

    • Recruit, retain, and coordinate other NHC staff members to help at events, such as health fairs and other health targeted outreach events.

    • Keep accurate records of community contacts and outreach activities.

    • Plan, coordinate, promote and participate in fundraising events.

    • Foster relationships with community organizations, including attending community meetings and events.

    • Serve on community boards and committees, as appropriate.

    • Collaborate with other healthcare facilities as needed.

    • Research and monitor social media platforms to build relationships with partners by liking and sharing relevant social media posts.

    • Develop a thorough understanding and working knowledge of all public and private health insurance programs that provide assistance to the uninsured and underinsured.

    • Assist clients in making their own informed selection from Marketplace health coverage options, never recommend which plan or option to select.

    • Adhere to the Mission and Values of Northland Health Centers.

    • May be asked to perform other duties that align with NHC’s mission.

    Position Requirements:

    • Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines; and excellent written and verbal communication.

    • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds.

    • Ability to work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public and professional groups.

    • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing), consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude.     • Ability to work as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships, effectively assist providers; work toward goals and objectives of draft priorities.

    • Ability to follow NHC Clinic practice guidelines – including adhering to the NHC immunization policy and the NHC Mission and Vision and NHC Corporate Compliance Policy.

    • Ability to receive constructive feedback including evaluation of productivity and performance attributes.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Ability to understand that safety is a condition of employment. Unsafe acts or conditions will be reported to the supervisor or Site Coordinator.

    • Must be computer literate with ability to enter information and compile reports or retrieve data as requested.

    • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Experience in marketing, communications, event planning, advertising and publication, PREFERRED
    • Advanced coursework in, Health Education, Social Services, Human Services, or a related field, PREFERRED
    • Two years prior experience of clinical setting working in occupational medicine, community education, and/or wellness activities, PREFERRED

    Special Requirements:

    Must be willing to travel between NHC health Must be willing to work evening hours and weekends if necessary.

    Appearance Standards:

    This position shall follow the appearance standards as outlined in the NHC Personnel Appearance Policy.
