    Job Description:  The Director of Behavioral Health (Director) is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, programmatic, and personnel activities for Behavioral Health Services. The Director develops, plans, and oversees the administration of a range of services for those with behavioral health conditions. This includes establishing, meeting, and continuously monitoring program goals and objectives while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives of Community Health Alliance (CHA). Working collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and industry professionals, activities will be coordinated to ensure the provision of a high level of care that operates within an efficient cost structure, with a focus on continuous quality improvement of systems and processes. Current evidence-based practices and guidelines will be utilized to ensure predictable and measurable outcomes. The Director interprets the impact of broad scope organizational change for staff and develops change strategies for successful implementation. The Director ensures integration of ethical standards and core values into all aspects of the program. The Director manages complex interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to assure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within Behavioral Health Services. The Director acts as a consultant to the Chief Medical Office and other Executive Leadership regarding behavioral healthcare and works with other key staff in areas of quality improvement, grants management, strategic planning, research, and other duties as indicated.

    Professional Experience/Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

    • Master’s degree in nursing, psychology, social work, or other healthcare related field. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), possessing a current license to practice in the State of Nevada or eligibility for licensure in Nevada preferred. Must demonstrate experience working with culturally diverse populations. Experience in the management of ambulatory services and/or programs, managing and supervising of other behavioral health professionals. Experience working in and understanding a healthcare system. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

     

    1. Knowledge of community mental, behavioral, and social health resources and their requirements.
    2. Knowledge of psychosocial disorders and their effects on individuals, children, families, and the community.
    3. Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they relate to the care and treatment of the mentally ill.
    4. Knowledge of the essential functions, practices, and procedures of a behavioral health provider.
    5. Knowledge of the delivery of community-based behavioral health programs.
    6. Knowledge of evidence-based practice guidelines relative to the delivery of behavioral health services.
    7. Skill in operating personal computers, utilizing work processing, databases, statistical and graphic presentations, and various general office equipment.
    8. Ability to communicate and deal with diverse groups of people individually and in group settings.
    9. Skill in investigating case situations and ability to present this information to the medical staff in a clear and concise manner.
    10. Skill in organizing and prioritizing, especially in crisis situations.
    11. Skills in critical thinking and problem-solving, including the ability to read, interpret, and analyze data.
    12. Ability to present information and represent CHA at relevant meetings, committees, conferences, or community organizations.
    13. Ability to supervise other behavioral healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with all regulations and adherence to all industry and organizational policies and procedures, to ensure clinical quality and eligible reimbursement.
    14. Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    15. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    16. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts and build teams.
    17. Demonstrated effective managerial and administrative leadership of clinical operations.
    18. Broad knowledge of modern health care administration practices and principles within a managed care environment.
