Position Summary:
The Compliance Specialist assists with the day-to-day administration of the compliance department duties under the direction of the Compliance Officer.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as it applies to clinical compliance
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with any related privacy laws
- Assist with response to Additional Documentation Requests and any other clinical audits
- Assist with Policy development as a regulatory specialist
- Participate in investigations as requested
- Assist with timely response to government agency inquiries
- Perform on-site mock surveys to those agencies due survey within 6 months
- Write the Plan of Correction related to surveys and assure compliance with the plan
- Assist agency on site during condition level surveys as needed
- Lead or participate in department projects, as assigned
- Other related duties, as assigned
Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
- Demonstrated auditing and monitoring experience
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Previous home health surveyor experience a plus
- Ability to successfully communicate and present various information telephonically, via web-meetings, or face-to-face as needed
- Well versed with federal regulations, including the ability to review and interpret state laws and their practical application
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize actions items to ensure deadlines are met
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
Education, Professional License, or Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and at least 5 years of experience in Home Health Compliance, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- OASIS Certification within 1st year of employment.
Physical Conditions and Demands:
- Duties are performed in an office environment during routine business hours; occasional late hours may be required.
- Sitting is required for most of the workday.
- Ability to utilize a telephone, computer keyboard and monitor and other office equipment is required.
- Additional routine duties require standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Some travel 25%-50%
- This is a remote position when not traveling.
