Operations Supervisor Primary purpose:

Directly responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of crude oil pipeline system operations, pump stations, oil terminals, and all related equipment associated with each, in addition to supervision of multiple operations personnel. 

Operations Supervisor Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure that work is completed in accordance with internal standards following approved policies, procedures, safety rules, budgets and in a manner that promotes customer satisfaction.
• Plan, schedule, assign and direct work of Operations personnel.
• Manage all PHMSA and regulatory requirements and be prepared to assist during any inspections or audits for the area of responsibility.
• Monitor and implement company procedures, standards and best practices.
• Directly responsible for the safety program, environmental compliance, governmental compliance, employee training and development, facility security and all personnel functions.
• Ensure that all requirements on the Operator Qualification (OQ) Program are met for both contract and company employees.
• Provide leadership and manage the planning and direction of activities at multiple locations within the area.
• Supervise contract personnel engaged in construction, testing and operations of facilities.
• Manage, plan and forecast the Capital and O&M Budgets for the area of responsibility.
• Participate in the development of O&M procedures, site specific procedures, project scopes and work plans.
• Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
• Coordinate safety training and inspections, including completing documentation and conducting safety incident investigations when needed.
• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment, instrumentation, pumps, vessels, pipelines, auxiliary equipment, motors, cooling equipment, valves, seals, and other related equipment.
• Directly manage construction and/or maintenance activities performed by internal personnel or third parties.
• Responsible for cash flow management, cost monitoring and control.
• Assist with AFE project preparation, scheduling, monitoring projects costs, and project completion.
• Conduct performance evaluations of direct reports.
• Work with the Operations Manager to develop short- and long-range plans, goals and objectives for pipeline operations.
• Provide support to project management and business development, as needed.
• Organize work for timely completion.
• Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
• Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory, and Company tariff requirements.
• Respond to emergency situations at any hour of the day or night. This includes and may not be limited to being in possession of required equipment and tools, designated forms, policies, regulations and manuals.
• Foster a positive open work environment, systems approaches and disciplined execution of all assigned tasks. 
• Manage personnel related matters, including providing performance based feedback, providing support and completing administrative paperwork as needed.  
• Demonstrate and enforce the highest professional integrity, ethics and safety discipline. 
• Demonstrate and reinforce a culture of regulatory compliance. 
• Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
• Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.

• Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
• Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
• Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.

OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

Education:

• Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
• A minimum of five (5) years of direct work experience in crude oil pipeline system operations, including prior supervisory responsibility may be considered as a substitute for a degree. 

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

• A minimum of two (2) years working experience with mechanical and pipeline systems.
• Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and/or asset management
• Knowledge and experience in operation of pipeline, measurement, pump stations and all related equipment. 
• Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of crude oil, flammable gases, liquids and high and low pressure systems.
• Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage crews at multiple locations and multiple tasks on a daily basis.

• Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.
• Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.

Working Conditions:

•  Living environs may be negotiable and will be relevant to the work location.
•  Frequent overnight travel may be required. 
• Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
• The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
