The web/social content editor works through the SRACES contract supporting NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center to provide web content updates and social media posts for MSFC’s Office of Strategic Analysis and Communications (OSAC.) While some telework may become possible after initial training, this position is to work primarily on site at MSFC. This is a fast-paced environment with amazing content coming out daily covering human spaceflight, Earth science, Planetary Science, Heliophysics, Astrophysics, NASA partnerships, technology developments, STEM engagement activities and so much more.

• Manage content for both the web and social media
• Work with Adobe Creative tools to manipulate images, text, and graphics to publish in a large content management system (Word Press-based CMS)
• Manipulate images, text, graphics, and video in preparation for posting on web and social media
• Create 508-compliant text, images, video, animations, etc. content
• Create and implementing strategies, including SEO strategies, for web and social media content to increase visibility and engagements
• Collect, interpret, and analyze data related to aspects of strategic communications
• Produce tables, graphs, and reports in support of analytical and research projects
• Assist with the integration of analysis and graphics into written documents and presentations
• Develop customer-ready reports and presentations
• Generate routine and/or ad-hoc reports for management/customers

• Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization such as web management, digital media, etc.
• Possess 3 years of directly related experience
• Must have 5 years of experience in large content management systems
• Proficient in:
  • website development and management using Content Management Systems
  • advanced computer-based methods for data- retrieval, manipulation, and presentation of data from large, complex databases;
  • advanced quantitative and qualitative research methods and analytics;
  • advanced oral and written communications;
  • advanced writing and editing; and
  • advanced problem solving

• Demonstrated experience in graphic design and online page layout
• Understanding of 508 Compliance for web content including text and imagery
• Manipulation of images and files using Adobe Creative tools
• Understanding of SEO best practices
• Understanding of web and social media metrics and the interaction between them
• Experience with YouTube, video platforms and social media integration into content management systems and cross promotion of content
• Familiarity with NASA missions and programs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees must possess the ability to work in a standard office or conference room setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer. To visit other company sites, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle and fly in an aircraft, both of which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time. Employees must possess vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance; reach, push, and pull drawers and doors open and closed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
