Contracts Administration Director jobs in South Carolina

Contracts Administration Director is responsible for all activities in the organization's contracts administration function. Oversees the preparation of proposals, negotiations, and the administration of contracts that follow company policies and legal requirements. Being a Contracts Administration Director directs and develops policies and processes that govern the contract administration staff and provide guidance on contract terms and the assessment of contract proposals. Has deep knowledge of the contract life cycle, types of contracts, and applicable government regulations. Additionally, Contracts Administration Director leads negotiations for complex or high-value contracts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Sometimes requires certification like the NCMA Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM). Typically reports to senior management. The Contracts Administration Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Contracts Administration Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Responsible for directing the University's grants and sponsored programs efforts by working closely with faculty, administrators, and center and institute directors to seek, secure, and report on foundation, corporate, and government grants to support institutional priorities and faculty scholarship. Assists the President in managing university relationships with major foundations and endowments.

    Responsibilities

    Proactively monitors and researches grant opportunities and reaches out to faculty, administrators, and other campus partners to explore grant fit and encourage grant applications.

    Works closely with the Provost to determine University grant-seeking strategy.

    Partners with Provost, Dean of Faculty, Associate Provost for Integrative Science, Director of Humanities Center, Student Life Office, and others to foster a culture of grant seeking on campus.

    Partners with faculty, administrators, and others to write and submit grants.

    Facilitates grant writing workshops to foster a culture of grant writing across campus and increase grant applications overall.

    Coordinates with faculty teaching courses on grant writing.

    Communicates with academic departments, faculty members, and institute and center directors to consult on grants.

    Provides technical guidance and support services to Furman grant-seekers.

    Supports grant authors by providing feedback on drafts, timely information about granting entities and open grant opportunities, text templates about the university, etc.

    Reviews, approves, submits and tracks all grants submitted by university faculty and staff, including managing required financial and institutional approvals prior to submission

    In concert with the Associate Director of Grants and Research Administration, monitors progress of approved applications and ensures that grant authors submit periodic and final reports to granting sources.

    Works collaboratively with the business office to create and manage grant budgets.

    Responsible for ensuring all awarded grants are administered so that all funding requirements are met.

    Alerts Provost in cases where grants monies are not spent fully or in accordance with granting entity.

    Writes and submits reports for institutional grants.

    Assists the President in preparing for presentations to The Duke Endowment and provides close stewardship of the university's relationship with the Endowment.

    Supervises, evaluates, and provides strategic guidance for staff in the grants office.

    Invites and coordinates site visits by officials of foundations or other granting entities.

    Contacts and/or visits foundation prospects, corporate prospects, and governmental agencies for cultivation and/or renewal purposes.

    Performs additional responsibilities as designated by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

    Pursues professional development to keep pace with demands for services and information; including maintaining up to date information about the department and university.

    Relationships:

    Frequent contact with government agencies, foundations, grant officers and

    program directors to exchange factual information and remain current on grant rules and criteria, regulations, practices or functions.

    Frequent contact with the Business Office, Financial Services, Provost, Dean of Faculty, Associate Provost for Integrative Sciences, Institute and Center Directors, Other Administrators, Researchers, Chairs and the President to plan, coordinate, problem solve, present information, and make suggestions related to mutual grant goals.     Education/Skill Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree (minimum, Master's Degree preferred) with 5 - 10 years of demonstrated experience in successful grant writing and/or grants management activities

    Proven experience in cultivating relationships with foundations/endowments/non-profits to build/sustain educational and/or research opportunities

    High level conceptual, writing and oral communication skills.

    Understanding of higher education, planning and programming.

    Strong interpersonal skills.

    Excels at working independently and as a team member.

    Work Conditions:

    Work is performed under usual office conditions.

    Work involves coordinating the planning and proposal development for various grant projects, attending meetings including professional conferences supporting knowledge of grant opportunities and submission processes and meeting deadlines. On-campus responsibilities may also include guest lecturing for and coordinating with instructors of grant writing courses and directing grant workshops.
