    Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council (GSVSC) was charted on July 1, 1963 by Girl Scouts of the USA. The Council, with headquarters in Roanoke, VA, serves 36 counties in central, south-side, southwestern and western Virginia. The Council serves approximately 5,000 members

    Position Summary:

    The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting and retaining adult volunteers and girl members in assigned program-grade levels K-12 by providing programs, guiding and mentoring, developing and delivering resources, and building and maintaining partnerships to assist volunteers in their work with girls. The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with members of the Mission Delivery Team as well as cross-functionally with other departments to ensure achievement of the goals of the Council.

    Travel:

    • Willing to travel, primarily within our 36 county area and approximatly 25% of the time, to support and build quality programs, events, ceremonies, camps and outreach in assigned areas
    • Develops and maintains an organized/robust system of program partnership collaborations and/or volunteers who deliver quality programs in assigned areas

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    Program Grade Level Support

    · Mentors adult volunteers to work with girls in assigned program-grade level area (K-12) to ensure delivery of programs and services to girls.

    · Interprets the Girl Scout Leadership Experience philosophy and the council’s policies, procedures and standards.

    · Works with cross-functional team to determine or develop innovative strategies to ensure the effective support of troop leaders and program-grade levels within service units.

    · Monitors and provides support for problem solving and conflict resolution in a timely manner.

    · Cultivates relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support retention efforts.

    · Optimizes use of technology to support customer service for volunteers.

    Support functions of the call center process.

    · Answers, problem-solves, manages and responds appropriately to all inquiries including but not limited to email, cases, phone and walk-in customers.

    Program delivery/resource development

    · Assists in achieving the council’s membership and retention goals for girls by development, coordination and delivery of quality programs, events, ceremonies, camps, curricula, and additional resources as driven by market needs.

    · Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers for the effective delivery of council programs.

    · Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers for the effective delivery of volunteer-run summer camps.

    · Builds and maintains program registrations and provides rosters for program partners as needed to support the effective delivery of programs.

    · Updates and maintains yearly program dashboard and registration data to accurately identify # of girls served.

    · Prepares and coordinates budgets (including grant budgets) to ensure adherence to approved program for girls.

    · Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.

    Outreach Program delivery

    · Assists in achieving the council’s membership and retention goals for girls by development, coordination and delivery of quality outreach programs, camps, ceremonies, curricula, and additional resources as driven by market needs.

    · # girls served in council-sponsored program events focused on 4 program pillars (STEM, Outdoors, Entrepreneurship, and Life Skills)

    · Customer satisfaction reflects improvement (Survey).

    • Technical computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel, Google Suite including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, customer relationship management systems, and social networking.
    • Interpersonal Relations - establishes rapport with others at all organizational levels; respects others; considers and responds to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of others; establishes and maintains an open dialogue with others; has demonstrated ability to market the Girl Scout value proposition through a variety of communication venues including in person, phone, and online.

    Minimum Qualifications Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree with two year experience and/or supervision of youth recreational programs, preferably in a non-profit or membership-based organization, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Knowledge of Girl Scouting, Girl Scout Leadership Experience, Girl Scouts National Program Portfolio (or ability to learn quickly upon job entry)
    • Required certification and/or willingness to become certified. Instructor certifications a plus: First Aid/CPR
    • Prior camp administration, American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation, experience in writing outdoor, experiential program curriculum, adult instruction and training preferred but not required.
    • Daily access to transportation, along with applicable documentation of legally required automobile insurance and valid driver’s license; ability to travel independently to a variety of locations in the council's jurisdiction or other locations.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Ability to travel as position responsibilities require.
    • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
    • Experience working with diverse populations.
