Tourist Development Tax Collections Clerk
General Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of tasks related to the work performed in support of the Walton County Clerk & Comptroller’s Office at the Coastal Annex in the following functions: collection and enforcement of the local-option Tourist Development Tax for both North and South Walton tax districts.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· High school diploma or its equivalent required;
· At least one (1) year previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or other related clerical activity;
· Or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the job.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar;
· Considerable knowledge of modern office methods, techniques, practices, and procedures;
· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
· Skill to operate with appropriate speed and accuracy a variety of standard office business equipment including, but not limited to, a computer, printer, calculator, copier, telephone, and fax machine;
· Ability to learn and adapt to new procedures and technology;
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner; understand and follow simple to moderately complex oral and written procedures;
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department employees, as well as other employees of the Clerk & Comptroller’s Office, offices of other elected officials, Walton County Tourist Development Council (employees and council members), public agencies, and the public;
· Ability to type 30 correct words per minute;
· After a reasonable training period, ability to perform duties with little supervision;
· Valid driver’s license.
