Critical Care Director directs the staff and programs of the critical care unit. Develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for critical care services and programs. Being a Critical Care Director ensures quality care to patients. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Critical Care Director typically reports to top management. The Critical Care Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Critical Care Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    Come join our Critical Care Services team as our Director of Critical Care! The Director is responsible for the planning, direction, development, coordination and control of activities concerned with Critical Services (Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, and Centralized Telemetry Monitoring). Our critical care departments are comprised of hard-working individuals in a fast-paced environment. If this sounds like a team you would like to lead, apply today!

    • Manages the fiscal and clinical operations of assigned area(s) of responsibility and recommends sufficient number of qualified competent persons to provide care. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.
    • Integrates department services with the hospitals primary function maintaining communication with medical and nursing staffs, Administration, patients and their families/significant other. Coordinates and integrates services within departments.
    • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support provision of services. Supervises nursing staff and assures staff competency.
    • Conducts ongoing assessment and improvement of the department’s performance. Promotes the Quality Management program of the facility maintaining appropriate quality control programs (where applicable).
    • Develops, markets, implements, and evaluates new services and programs recommending space and resources needed. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.
    • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.
    • Develops goals and objectives for assigned area(s) of responsibility and participates in development of goals and objectives for the Nursing Department.
    • Provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education for persons in the department.

    Requirements:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)
    • Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a compact license
    • BLS for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association
    • ACLS for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association
    • Five (5) years current nursing experience
    • BSN or related health degree is preferred
