Training Services Instructor - American Red Cross Instructor

  • Position Overview:

    ProACT Critical Care Academy is seeking enthusiastic and skilled instructors (Training Services Specialists) to collaborate with us in delivering high-quality health, preparedness, and safety training courses. As a Training Services Specialist, you will work collaboratively with ProACT Academy to deliver preparedness, health, and safety courses to communities and organizations across Wisconsin and the United States.

    This position provides the opportunity to cater to your interests, availability, and personal mission to provide life-saving training. We offer flexible scheduling and engagement options enabling you to teach courses based on your current life situation, status, and career.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Course Instruction:

    • Facilitate health, preparedness, and safety training courses based on ProACT Academy's collaboration with the American Red Cross curriculum and guidelines.
    • Engage participants in interactive learning experiences to ensure comprehension and skill mastery.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
    • Instructors are required to teach one (1) class under ProACT Academy's License every six (6) months to maintain an active contract. Specific requirements will be discussed during the application and onboarding process.

    2. Equipment and Resource Utilization:

    • With your training equipment, work collaboratively with ProACT Academy to teach classes - there is a compensatory benefit to having personally owned equipment.
    • Based on an applicant's commitment to teaching classes, ProACT Academy may sponsor or lease equipment, audiovisual aids, and training materials during course delivery.
    • It is the responsibility of the instructor to ensure proper setup, functionality, and maintenance of the equipment before and after each session.

    3. Course Management:

    • Adhere to scheduled course dates and times as coordinated by ProACT Academy.
    • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, evaluations, and certifications issued.
    • Collaborate with ProACT Academy's administrative team to address any logistical or scheduling concerns.

    4. Quality Assurance:

    • Uphold the standards of ProACT Academy by consistently delivering accurate and up-to-date training content.
    • Participate in occasional quality assurance evaluations to ensure course quality and alignment with ProACT Academy's objectives mission and obligation to the American Red Cross standards.

    5. Professional Development:

    • Stay informed about advancements in health, preparedness, and safety practices to enhance instructional effectiveness.
    • Continuously improve teaching techniques and methods to enhance participant engagement and learning outcomes.
    • Opportunity to earn additional certifications as an instructor in other disciplines.
    • Experience and knowledge are continuously recognized through various specialty certification programs.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Valid, active American Red Cross Instructor certificate in any relevant discipline (e.g., First Aid/CPR/AED, Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Emergency Medical Response, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, First Aid for Severe Trauma, Lifeguarding, and/or Water Safety).
    • Demonstrated expertise in health, safety, or preparedness training - passing a content exam is required in each discipline being taught to ensure adequate knowledge.
    • Basic-level certification, or equivalent, or higher in the discipline being taught.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in delivering preparedness, health, and safety training sessions to diverse audiences.
    • Direct patient care experience (e.g., nurse, EMT, CNA, MA, physician, PA, NP, or other clinical role).

    Qualifications of a Strong Applicant:

    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey concepts clearly and concisely.
    • Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and participant needs.
    • Comfortable utilizing technology and audiovisual aids for instructional purposes.
    • Detail-oriented and organized in managing course logistics and participant records.

    Compensation

    Training Services Specialists will receive competitive compensation for their services. Wages are paid on an hourly basis and are determined by factors including experience, and commitment to teaching. Specific compensation details will be discussed during the contract and onboarding process.
