Job Title: Picture Framer

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Picture Framer to join our team at Kennedy Gallery and Custom Framing. We are an established Gallery and Frame Shop in historic downtown Portsmouth for over 34 years.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for art, excellent craftsmanship, and a keen eye for design. As a Picture Framer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality custom framing services to our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Measure and cut framing materials with precision.

• Assemble frames according to customer specifications, using appropriate tools and techniques.

• Assist customers in selecting frames that complement their artwork and fit their style preferences.

• Provide expert advice on framing options, including matting, glass, and mounting techniques.

• Ensure the quality of finished frames meets our standards of excellence.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including framing equipment and supplies.

• Keep up-to-date with industry trends and new framing techniques.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a picture framer or similar role preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.

• Proficiency with framing tools and equipment, including mat cutters (computerized mat cutter) frame joiners (ITE amp mitre mite VN-4), and glass cutters.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of art materials, framing techniques, and conservation practices is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $21.01 - $25.30 per hour
