Cytotechnologist jobs in Maine
Cytotechnologist examines cells of the cytoplasm and nucleus to determine pathological conditions. Separates sediment and cells from blood serum and categorizes slides and records classification. Being a Cytotechnologist receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Detects abnormalities and communicates to pathologist to arrive at a final diagnosis and report. Additionally, Cytotechnologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires graduation from an approved school of cytotechnology and American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or I.C.A. registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cytotechnologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Position Summary

Independently performs detailed and complex analysis of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens to detect the presence of abnormal cells.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education: Knowledge of pathology functions, practices and procedures acquired through a Baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology or Baccalaureate degree in an equivalent science with certification in an accredited cytotechnology program.

License/Certifications: Certification as a Cytotechnologist by a recognized professional organization (i.e. ASCP) is required.

Experience: N/A

Ability to learn and work efficiently with a variety of laboratory computer systems. Accurate data entry skills.

Must be able to work any shift, holiday and/or weekend

Must be able to travel among company sites.
