Cytotechnologist jobs in Minnesota
Cytotechnologist examines cells of the cytoplasm and nucleus to determine pathological conditions. Separates sediment and cells from blood serum and categorizes slides and records classification. Being a Cytotechnologist receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Detects abnormalities and communicates to pathologist to arrive at a final diagnosis and report. Additionally, Cytotechnologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires graduation from an approved school of cytotechnology and American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or I.C.A. registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cytotechnologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Position Summary:
This position processes, screens and performs diagnostic cytology testing in accordance with laboratory protocol. Education/Experience: A baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology or graduate from a school of Cytotechnology accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation which would include a combination of certification in Cytotechnology, education and experience. American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification is required. New graduates must attain certification within 18 months of hire. Must be willing to maintain competence through continuing education and proficiency testing where required by law. Attention to detail, good customer service skills, ability to work independently, good problem solving skills.Additional Information:
