Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Database Administration Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The University of Mary is seeking a Database Manager in the Office of Mission Advancement. This position supervises and maintains the integrity and security of the database via standards and controls used in Mission Advancement. This position collaborates with the Mission Advancement support team responsible for appropriate donor follow up, including thank you letters, pledge reminders, and annual statements.

    Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.

     

    Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:

    • Maintain integrity of database, ensure accurate and timely queries and reports, receive and process donations, reconcile month end with Business Office. Monitors and updates donor records as required.  Create policies and instruction manuals for department use. Donor follow up including but not limited to, thank you letters, pledge reminders and annual statements.
    • Directly supervise database specialist and work campus student(s) to ensure efficient workflow
    • Train new Raiser’s Edge users and keep current with new capabilities of Raiser’s Edge. Administer appropriate security levels for raiser’s edge users, facilitate major imports/exports with raiser’s edge, pull queries and reports from database, work with technical support as needed to resolve database issues.
    • Perform other duties as requested and assigned

    Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience include:

    • Required: Bachelor’s degree and successful database management experience in a higher education institution or similar environment.  Prior experience of employee management and leading a high functioning team.
    • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Database Management or equivalent experience and three years of database management experience in a higher education institution or similar environment.  High degree of competency with resolving database issues and managing software upgrades.  Three years of employee management experience preferred.
    • Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
    • Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.
    • Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Mission Advancement and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to manage time and tasks in a fast-moving environment
    • Proven knowledge of best practices in database management
    • Raiser’s Edge experience or higher education database experience preferred
    • High Degree of proficiency in excel, outlook, and word
    • Excellent critical thinking skills
    • Ability to manage and motivate staff in a high functioning office setting
