Position: Database Administrator
Location: Washington Ave, Albany, NY, 12207
Pay Rate: $50 to $55 per hour
Schedule: 8.5 hour days (including a 1/2 hour lunch) within the 7:00a - 5:00p daily time frame

Description: The Database Administrator role supports crucial initiatives benefiting New York State Higher Education Services (HESC) within the ITS/HESC project portfolio. This position supplements the GLP DB staff for governor initiatives resulting from the 2024 NYS Budget, impacting HESC’s Grants and Scholarship programs.
Mandatory Qualification:
- Utilizes specialized software for data storage, organization, capacity planning, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, backup, and data recovery.
- Expertise with 84 months of experience, providing guidance to large teams or possessing extensive industry experience.
Requested Qualifications:
- 84 months of experience in designing and developing logical and physical data models, and creating DDL scripts.
- 84 months of experience in designing and developing Data Conversion Strategy Plans and Data Mapping Documents.
- 84 months of experience writing complex DML SQL against enterprise SQL Server and DB2 databases.
- 84 months of experience working with tools like SQL Server Management Studio, SSMS Job Scheduler, SSIS, SSRS, etc.
- 84 months of experience using programming languages such as SQL, PL/SQL.
- 60 months of experience in performance tuning complex SQL against enterprise SQL Server and DB2 databases.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain data architecture based on requirements.
- Design and develop Logical and Physical Data Models, and create DDL scripts.
- Write complex SQL queries and DML scripts.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, developers, and QA for quality assurance.
- Performance tuning SQL queries.
- Work with NYS Agency representatives for gap analysis and understanding business rules.
- Provide guidance for developing and maintaining queries.
- Create documentation on data models and data usage in application process flow.
