Dean of Continuing Education manages administrative functions of the college of continuing education. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Continuing Education leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Continuing Education requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Continuing Education manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Continuing Education typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.   • EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

    • Oversee and develop Emergency Medical Educational curriculum specifically for Emergency Medical Services providers.
    • Evaluate, update and critique current course offerings and ensure the most recent evidence-based information is being presented.
    • Develop course syllabus to meet program learning outcomes.
    • Develop lesson plans and deliver class instruction.
    • Administer, coordinate, score, and record both written and practical exams to meet institution requirements.
    • Record and maintain course level student performance and attendance data as per institution requirements.
    • Coordinate lab sessions and content to be covered with EMS Lab Instructors.
    • Instruct separate courses in line with the accrediting body. (e.g. AHA, NAMET, etc)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic
    • Demonstrated teaching experience in prior EMS-related courses such as, but not limited to: CPR, ACLS, PALS, AMLS, PHTLS, TECC, Continuing Education courses, etc.
    • Demonstrated two years' experience in the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care at the appropriate level.
    • Current working knowledge and experience with the Massachusetts Statewide Treatment Protocols, Massachusetts Emergency Medical Services system and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians procedures.
    • Current working knowledge of educational practices, techniques and continuing education standards for EMS & hospital-based practitioners.
    • Appreciation for and commitment to EMS & medical education offering the highest quality of instruction.

    ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience using evidence based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
    • Teaching experience using on-line learning systems to support and improve instruction.
    • Appreciation for and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.
    • Current MA EMS Instructor / Coordinator
    • CAAHEP & CoAEMSP working knowledge and program development experience.

    The staffing of this position is dependent upon the successful approval of Cape Cod CPR’s application to the Office of Emergency Medical Services and the Department of Public Health. Appointment subject to SORI (Sex Offender Registry Information), Massachusetts CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and national background checks.
