Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Mathematics typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The Baylor Mathematics Department is seeking an organized, collaborative candidate for the Office Manager position. The Office Manager will directly support the Department Chair and supervise the Administrative Associate and Student Workers. In addition, this position will work with the Graduate Program Director on matters related to the graduate students and graduate program and will maintain the Mathematics Department’s external communications.
This position is also responsible for coordinating travel (as needed for faculty, graduate students, visitors, and candidates interviewing for faculty positions), event planning, and submitting hiring paperwork for temporary lecturers, among other things.
A high school diploma, three years of relevant experience, and an active Christian Faith are required. A bachelor’s degree, five years of relevant experience, and an active Christian Faith are preferred.
