    Position Title: Housing Development Coordinator

    Reports to: Director of Housing Development

    Summary: Responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties of the rental assistance, home-ownership and counseling program, including staff support and assistance with property maintenance/inspections, home-ownership applications and counseling of current/future homeowners.

    Compensation: Full-Time @ 37.5 Hours per Week

    Non-Exempt position

    Essential Functions:

    • Handle client’s questions and concerns regarding rental and housing programs.
    • Maintain a waiting list and recruit eligible clients for rental and housing programs.
    • Complete property inspections according to Housing Quality Standards.
    • Coordinate repairs and maintenance of properties. Complete quality inspections of contractor repairs/work completed. Request and track payments to contractors for work completed.
    • Maintain client files for rental and housing programs.
    • Perform rent calculations, track rental payments, and work with funding sources to ensure rent is paid in timely manner.
    • Ensure utilities are placed into client’s name and paid by client. Ensure utility checks are issued as deemed appropriate by funding sources.
    • Assist clients with necessary paperwork for rental assistance including homeownership applications.
    • Assist with development and design for attracting new homeowners to homeownership program.
    • Provide one-on-one and group credit counseling and budgeting sessions with current and perspective homebuyers.
    • Seek advertising opportunities for program. Work with agency Program Information Officer to promote and market program.
    • Prepare or assist with preparation of required reports and/or documents.
    • Attend staff training and meetings; participate in community activities and meetings when necessary.
    • Work with funding sources over concerns on clients ranging from rental assistance to credit issues.
    • Work with creditors or collection agencies on setting up re-payment plans with applicants.
    • Monitor/track client credit issues and progress toward credit repair.
    • Perform required paperwork for funding sources.
    • Track rental payments for rental properties owned by KRFDC to ensure payment received, on time and for the correct amount.
    • Participate in programs and/or agency fund-raising activities as directed by Supervisor.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Education, Experience, and Training:

    High School diploma or equivalent required. College or related work experience preferred. Ability to communicate with all sectors of the community including disadvantaged families. Ability to conduct workshops (after regular business hours). Must be able to communicate in writing and verbally. Computer and internet literacy skills, knowledge of service area and target population helpful. *Individual will be required to participate and pass HUD’s Certified Counseling Program.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physical activity. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or exert force up to 50 pounds.

    Other Requirements:

    Must have a valid driver’s license and the flexibility and willingness to changes in schedules and duties as needed according to staff availability. Must be willing to travel the service area as needed. Travel is primarily local or within the service area during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Agency policy regarding drug and alcohol testing and criminal background checks applies to this position.
