Development Director manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Director works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Development Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Development Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • The Director of Development serves as an advancement leader, major gifts officer, and integral team member of the TROY University Office of Development. As a member of the institutional advancement team in the Office of Development, the Director of Development will work with alumni, corporations, foundations, and other key constituent prospects to solicit and close five and six- figure and above major gifts for TROY University with a focus on the College of Communications & Fine Arts at TROY University. This position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Advance the mission, vision, and short and long-term goals of TROY University, the College of Communications & Fine Arts and International Arts Center (IAC)
    • Work with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development to develop and implement a plan to advance donors and donations for TROY University.
    • Assist the Dean of the College of Communications & Fine Arts and the Director of the IAC to develop program funding priorities and related cases for support within the priorities of TROY University and in support of TROY University strategic plans.
    • Serve as a member of the TROY University Office of Development team and participate in prospect management and prospect strategy meetings.
    • Maintain a dynamic portfolio of high net worth individuals and priority corporate prospects and secure major gifts and perform to or exceed agreed upon metrics.
    • Create and execute fund raising plans that utilize best practices in major giving including identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors.
    • Assist with other development projects as needed and directed by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development.
    • Serve as an exemplary TROY University advocate in the community, with local leaders, alumni organizations, business and corporate partners, and other leaders and key constituents.
    • Be active and involved in the advancement profession and faithfully represent TROY University in a collegiate and professional manner.
    Travel is required: The Director of Development should be willing to travel extensively in his or her work with donors and as a representative of TROY University. This position will spend approximately 80% of their time focused on the College of Communications & Fine Arts and 20% focused on IAC.
    Minimum Qualifications
    1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    2. Experience in fundraising or related fields
    3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    4. Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize
    5. Ability to interact with a wide variety of constituents
    6. Excellent computer skills
