Development Director manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Director works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Development Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Development Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     What will you be doing most days?

    • Responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business 
    • Develop annual sales plan in support of organization strategy and objectives
    • Direct the implementation and execution of sales policies and practices
    • Ensure communications are coordinated, supports sales plan objectives, and meet organizational expenditure requirements in conjunction with marketing
    • Recommend sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses
    • Implement approved distribution strategies and manage multiple channel selling strategies
    • Build, develop, and manage sales team capable of carrying out needed sales and service initiatives


    What are the requirements for this position?

    • Demonstrated successful sales experience (hotel sales experience a plus!)
    • You are action oriented and have strong negotiating skills
    • You have prior leadership skills directing the efforts of others to achieve budgeted expectations.
    • You have strong business acumen and you’re passionate about numbers and meeting sales goals
    • You have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • You have a valid driver's license
    • You have a high school diploma or equivalent with a college degree preferred


    Physical Requirements for this Position

    You must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time as the job dictates.


    Travel Requirements

    Minimal, occasional travel outside the local area and overnight.
