Development Manager supervises operations to execute an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, and capital development initiatives supporting short- and long-term organizational revenue objectives. Implements and supports donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Manager collaborates with corporate or governmental partnerships. Coordinates staff and stakeholders in event planning and communication to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Manager manages a donor database and tools to produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. May oversee or participate in the grant writing and proposal process. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Development Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Development Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. If you answered yes, then a career as a farmworker might be right up your alley because this is one profession where no two days will be alike. You may be expected to harvest vegetables one day and repair fences the next. Anyone who considers him or herself to be a jack of all trades and loves learning new skills should absolutely apply. If there is a skill you are unfamiliar with, you do not have to worry because you will work directly with the head farmer and receive comprehensive on-site training.

    Job Summary:

    Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest vegetables, fruits, nuts and field crops. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include tilling soil and applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; cleaning, packing, and loading harvested products. May construct trellises, repair fences and farm buildings, or participate in irrigation activities.

    Responsibilities:

    • ∙ Record information about crops, such as pest and disease management use, yields, or costs.
    • ∙ Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment.
    • ∙ Dig and plant seeds, or transplant seedlings by hand.
    • ∙ Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand.
    • ∙ Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of soil amendments or foliar.
    • ∙ Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress.
    • ∙ Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities.
    • ∙ Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops.
    • ∙ Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.
    • ∙ Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures.
    • ∙ Set up and operate irrigation equipment.
    • ∙ Apply organic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers to crops using farm managers recommendations.
    • ∙ Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting.

    Qualifications:

    • ∙ Ability to lift 50lbs
    • ∙ Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
    • ∙ 3 months of verifiable experience in vegetable hand harvest and/or fruit hand harvest
    • ∙ Ability to meet strict deadlines
    • ∙ Job references from recent employers within the last 5 years of acceptable prior experience

    Pay: $15.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 5 – 35 per week
