Digital Collection Librarian maintains a library's digital collection of books, serials, documents, audiovisuals, or other materials, and assists groups and individuals in locating, obtaining and using materials. Trains others in the creation or preservation of digital resources and the use of the library's digital system(s). Being a Digital Collection Librarian is responsible for the library's open source projects and procures licenses for digital content. Interacts with IT staff in selecting/developing, implementing and maintaining the library's technical infrastructure. Additionally, Digital Collection Librarian requires a master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school in a related field. Typically reports to a director. The Digital Collection Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Digital Collection Librarian typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. TYPICAL DUTIES:
The Seabrook Library seeks a friendly, customer service-oriented person to work full-time in our Children’s Department. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
· Assists with the planning and implementation of all programs for children ages 0-12.
· Assists with the selection of materials.
· Responsible for organization and display of children’s materials; maintains room displays and decorations.
· Assists with publicity of children’s programs and materials in print, on social media, and the library website.
· Performs the full range of circulation desk procedures including accurately checking out and checking in materials, taking reserves and requests from patrons, issuing borrower cards and
helping patrons locate materials.
· Assures accurate shelving of books, periodicals, and other library materials.
· Performs related work as required, including ordering materials and supplies.
· Performs or assigns other duties as assigned by the Director.
This full-time position will require one night per week, one Saturday in a rotation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have proficient computer skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, possess a friendly, professional demeanor, and enjoy working with children and patrons of all ages, with a commitment to great customer service. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.
