Digital Collection Librarian jobs in Flint, MI

Digital Collection Librarian maintains a library's digital collection of books, serials, documents, audiovisuals, or other materials, and assists groups and individuals in locating, obtaining and using materials. Trains others in the creation or preservation of digital resources and the use of the library's digital system(s). Being a Digital Collection Librarian is responsible for the library's open source projects and procures licenses for digital content. Interacts with IT staff in selecting/developing, implementing and maintaining the library's technical infrastructure. Additionally, Digital Collection Librarian requires a master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school in a related field. Typically reports to a director. The Digital Collection Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Digital Collection Librarian typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.       • Point of contact for the entire Destiny library system which includes library books, all text books at the high school/middle school, and vital equipment at the high school/ middle school.
      • Make replacement or first-time student IDs for students (DHS/DAE).
      • Attend REMC (regional educational media center association) meetings.
      • Manage the barcodes for all libraries including: ordering, purchasing, and maintaining the system.
      • Manage the call number system for all book entries and ensuring that all libraries are the same throughout the district for call numbers and organization of call numbers.
      • Teach the library parapros about systems, how to use them, and how to process library items.
      • Maintain Media Center Equipment and schedule for teacher use.
      • Update the professional library for all school staff to have access to updated and relevant materials to assist in achieving student goals.
      • Teach students about where to find credible resources, how to use the library effectively, and using different types of media for research.
      • Oversee the development of elementary library curriculum.
      • Devote time to work in each building library on a regular basis to monitor operations and needs.
      • Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance.

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      • State of Michigan Certified Teacher and possess the necessary educational background and certifications (ND) for the position as determined by the District, or working toward completion of the program through Wayne State University or working with an alternative route provider in pursuit of the ND endorsement.
      • Additional endorsements preferred.
      • Embrace staff development and curriculum development.
