Digital Collection Librarian maintains a library's digital collection of books, serials, documents, audiovisuals, or other materials, and assists groups and individuals in locating, obtaining and using materials. Trains others in the creation or preservation of digital resources and the use of the library's digital system(s). Being a Digital Collection Librarian is responsible for the library's open source projects and procures licenses for digital content. Interacts with IT staff in selecting/developing, implementing and maintaining the library's technical infrastructure. Additionally, Digital Collection Librarian requires a master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school in a related field. Typically reports to a director. The Digital Collection Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Digital Collection Librarian typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As a Librarian for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for providing general library and law library services to incarcerated individuals inside SCI Pine Grove. From monitoring the library program budget to the return of library materials, you will oversee the operation of a full-service library and library staff, including the care, custody, and control of inmates in an assigned area and ensuring adherence to institutional rules. Other key duties include providing training, submitting inmate hours and payroll, evaluating work performance, and responding to inquiries requesting library information.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
    • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with 30-minute lunch.
    • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $56,900.00 (before taxes).
    • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


    • Five years as a Corrections Library Assistant; or
    • One year of corrections library experience, and a bachelor’s degree in library science; or
    • One year of professional library experience, and a bachelor’s degree in library science; or
    • A master’s degree in library science; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
    • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
